Atelier
updated: 3, 2009
For an intimate and interactive audience, this ‘workshop format’ occupies HAU 2, a 1970’s architectural space ideal for special-interest events; and HAU 3, the ‘lab’ portion of the format, where Talents can workshop their Hands-on Training projects in informal practice spaces. Atelier offers practical case studies targeted to the specific fields of the Talents. At the same time, the workshops are open to all participants and are designed in a manner that allows, for example, Talent ‘directors’ to gain valuable information about the specifics of camera work; or Talent ‘producers’ insight into the methods of a set designer; or provides Talent ‘actors’ with new ways of internet distribution for short films. Since many of our participants work on an interdisciplinary level in multiple areas of film, basic and advanced courses are conducted by Experts.
This format reflects the nature of a changing film industry that demands a much higher degree of flexibility from film professionals in more than one field of work. The workshops are conducted by one or several Experts and are geared to provide current, first-hand knowledge of immediate and long-term benefit to the Talents. The events are usually divided into two parts: presentation/lecture and an interactive portion of question and answer. The Campus Atelier covers several fields of film production: producing, film financing, directing, cinematography, acting, editing, film distribution etc. Experts will be recruited according to their expertise, their position within the international film market, and their teaching abilities.
