MEDIA 2007 – Training programme of the European Union
Equipped with a budget of 755 million Euro over 7 years (2007-2013), the Media 2007 - programme supports the forerunners of pre- and post-production activities. Media co-finances training initiatives for audiovisual industry professionals, the development of production projects (feature films, television drama, documentaries, animation and new media), as well as the distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works.
The objectives of MEDIA 2007 are:
- to preserve and enhance European cultural diversity and its cinematographic and audiovisual heritage, guarantee accessibility to this for Europeans and promote intercultural dialogue;
- to increase the circulation of European audiovisual works inside and outside the European Union;
- to strengthen the competitiveness of the European audiovisual sector in the framework of an open and competitive market.
Since 1991, the European Commission has published an annual call for proposals in support of film festivals and events organized in partnership within the audiovisual sector, in order to promote European cinematographic works and to encourage their distribution throughout the 31 Media eligible member states. The objectives and the added value of this community action are widely recognized.
Right from the start, MEDIA has been one of the main Co-operation Partners of the Berlinale Talent Campus, and supported the Campus Panel Programme again in 2010.
