German Film and Television Academy (dffb)

The German Film and Television Academy (dffb) was inaugurated as the first film academy in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1966.

The dffb offers a professional education for artistic jobs in film and television. The study is divided into preliminary basic studies and the main studies where the students can choose between the programs directing, cinematography, producing and screenwriting.

From the very beginning, the Academy has been dedicated to pushing artistic development in film and television. The heart of the Film Academy revolves around courageous, intelligent, powerful filmmaking. Each year over 250 new projects are realized at the dffb, from large to small. Many of them are shown in cinemas, at festivals, receive awards and find their way to television.

The dffb supports both the Campus Studio and the Talent Actors Stage by providing technical equipment. The Talent Actors Stage provides a wide variety of training opportunities in acting technique, working with dialogue, casting and camera acting.
At the Campus Editing Studio selected talents are assisted by first-class editors with rough cut editing. The dffb will make two editing suites available for this training programme.
